Boot to Ubuntu via USB or CD ROM
sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda
THe ssd should be "frozen". Put the laptop / PC to sleep and revive it. This should "unfreeze" the ssd.
//To freeze the PC
echo -n mem > /sys/power/state
//Set the password
hdparm --user-master u --security-set-pass Eins /dev/sda
//Erase the ssd
hdparm --user-master u --security-erase Eins /dev/sda
